8 emotions that we tend to avoid. Because let’s be honest, they create discomfort 😳.
Those 8 emotions are: sadness, shame, helplessness, anger, embarrassment, disappointment, frustration, and vulnerability.
And according to Harvard scientist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, “it takes only 90 seconds for an emotion to dissolve. Anything that comes after that is caused by the recurring story you tell yourself.” 😵💫
“When a person has a reaction to something in their environment, there’s a 90-second chemical process that happens in the body; after that, any remaining emotional response is just the person choosing to stay in that emotional loop.”
Essentially as we create meaning or attach thoughts/stories to the feeling, it may create a loop. Thus, the feeling lingers and can be triggered again when we think of that story 🥵.
👉🏼One way to jump out of this never ending loop is to take notice of when the feeling arises in the body. Track the feeling. Notice if it moves. Notice the sensation. Give it space to move through and out.
